Theatre Posters – Shakespeare
I enjoyed a 20-plus year association with Hillbark Players of Wirral, an Open-Air Shakespeare company who stage major productions every other year. My design work for this group included everything to do with publicity and promotion – sponsorship proposals, posters and leaflets, pvc and pop-up banners, bookmarks, mugs, beer mats (!), advertising campaigns – as well as writing, designing and producing the souvenir programmes.
Featured below are just a few of the posters I've created (as well as a couple for other companies), and some sample double-page spreads from a couple of the Hillbark programmes, giving a flavour of what I produce.
The poster design for Macbeth was selected to be included in 'Presenting Shakespeare' by Mirko Ilic and Steven Heller, published in 2015 by Princeton Architectural Press of New York, which featured 1,100 posters from around the world promoting Shakespeare. It was also subsequently displayed in the accompanying exhibition in NYC.
