Theatre Posters –
Dramas & Plays, Comedies & Farces
When designing posters and publicity for theatrical productions, I've always believed that the visuals and graphics of the posters should both give a feel for the nature and style of the production, and also try to say something about the play itself.
This may seem a bit obvious and predictable, and maybe it's an age thing, but I was always brought up on the idea of clearly communicating with your potential audience. These days, you tend to see all kinds of indecipherable abstract images used for promotional purposes, which often are far too clever for their own good (imho!).
So, below are some obvious and predictable poster designs. But the clients and I liked them! Listed here in Alphabetical order. I've also included a series of posters for two seasons of 5 productions which were 'themed' – an all-female season, and an 'Irish' season. Below are examples from two consecutive seasons: A Season of all-female plays, and A Season of Irish-themed plays.
